If you have come to enjoy, appreciate, hate-love the things that Jon Miller has to say, this space might be for you.

Twitter seems to be going through a transitional phase, and who knows what it may become. It may hold the line it has always held; the car wreck that you can’t turn away from. I get it, as I’ve been on Twitter since 2009…and love/hate it. It could get better, it could get worse.

However, Twitter limits us all to 280 characters…and frankly, we all have a lot more to say at times, and unlimited space allows for the completion of concepts and thought and promotes intellectualism. I realize Twitter may add more characters at some point in the future, but I still find it a shoddy way to create long-form content and I also feel that it’s a breeding ground for anti-intellectualism, which I do not like. It lacks the capacity for nuance, it lacks the space to utilize the space and direction that long-form writing provides…it’s just limited as it relates to things I sometimes want to say, and intend to keep saying moving forward here on the back nine of my life.

  1. If you just sit around in the same place complaining about that place, you’re a hypocrite. I despise hypocrisy, especially when it comes from me.

So with that said, I am going to start posting my longer-form commentaries here as opposed to long and clunky twitter threads. I’ll still read Twitter, I’ll still interact with folks and respond to DM’s and replies and I will still be tweeting if and until the platform either breaks or is no long a place I want to be associated with.

Things can get lost rather easily on Twitter, or if you are (heaven forbid) away from your desk for a few hours, you might miss something that was worth seeing. Here, you can sign up (subscribe, but there will be no fee for what I write for the foreseeable future) and receive my thoughts in your email inbox. I love the circular narrative storytelling device, and me sending my thoughts out to folks in their email inboxes is about as full circle as I can get, as that’s what I did when I started doing ‘my thing’ back in the late 1990s with the ‘Miller Time’ email list. Then came SuperHawkeye.com, then came HawkeyeNation.com (with a cease and desist letter from Miller Brewing company along the way). So if you are interested, sign up to receive the free newsletter by hitting the button below. I’m glad you’re here, you don’t have to stay if you don’t want to and it doesn’t cost anything.
